The last ones to leave camp, we began the day dropping back down the other side of the hill we climbed yesterday. Most of Washington will be this way, gaining a ridge and then descending it. At our first major water source we chatted a bit with Cowbells. Chickadee and Yardsale were there as well. Everyone filled up and then started the climb as the heat of the day got worse. At the top, we stopped for lunch in the same spot we stopped last time we hiked this section. Yardsale and Chickadee were already there and welcomed us to join them. It was good to be off our feet and relaxing in the shade. The afternoon we descended our way to Wind River. The only spots available here are on a rocky berm on the river, so we’re cowboy camping for the first time.
